INTRODUCTION TO RING-MAKING

On this full-day intermediate workshop - suitable for those that have taken our Silver Clay Jewellery Taster workshop - you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver ring.

Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, Edinburgh jeweller Anna Campbell will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.

You will make a 'flat band' and a 'D profile' ring. a pair of earrings, a stone-set pendant and a moulded charm. You will learn how to design your rings, calculate your size to take shrinkage into account, make your own bespoke pieces and embellish with textures and a gemstone.

The rings will be taken away for kiln firing at the end of the session and can be collected from The Arienas Collective at an agreed date, or will be posted to an address of your choice within one week of the class. It is recommended that rings are kiln fired rather than torch fired. If you want to make a ring for someone else please remember to check their ring size before coming!

Refreshment breaks - featuring locally sourced products - are an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby who we love to support.

You will start the day with a welcome coffee served with a selection of pastries, and our buffet-style lunches feature summer platters or warming winter soup with bread and cheese. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.

Our artists will support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.

The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.

The price for the day includes all materials, coffee, tea, lunch and of course you get to take all the products your have created home to enjoy and inspire you, or to give to family and friends as unique gifts.

Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
