Release your inner creative on our Speed-Sketching Taster workshop, run by Edinburgh artist Mark Kirkham, aka 'The Edinburgh Sketcher'.
You will capture in detail the historical architecture, unique heritage features and charming landscape of Edinburgh's city centre. Explore Edinburgh’s New Town and Portrait Gallery with a sketch book in hand, using ink and watercolour to bring your visit to life.
With helpful instruction from Mark, you will quickly pick up sketching skills while increasing confidence in your own artistic ability as you wynd through cobbled streets, Georgian crescents and stylish shop fronts.
In this taster workshop, you will start with quick simple drawings in black ink and increase to more detailed pieces using watercolour washes as your confidence grows.
This experience is also available as a full-day workshop, which allows you to develop your sketching skills more fully, and to explore a broader range of locations.
Our artists will support you throughout the workshop offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
The price for the workshop includes all materials and refreshments, and of course you will take home a framed copy of your favourite sketch, as well as the all other documentation you produced, to enjoy and inspire you.
Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
