Release your inner creative on our 'Introduction to screen-printing' experience run by Edinburgh artists Jodie Powell and Brodie Sim.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited to a maximum of 8 so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
On our 'Introduction to screen-printing' experience you will begin by learning how to design and cut your own stencil. Then you will mix your chosen paint colours ready for screen-printing by hand onto high quality paper, and onto fabric products. You will take home a framed print of your original design, plus a printed tote bag and tea towel featuring your design.
Lunch - featuring locally sourced products - is an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby who we love to support. You will start the day with a welcome coffee served with a selection of pastries, and our buffet-style lunch platters feature a range of cheeses, meats and fish plus fresh fruit. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.
Our artists will support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.

JUMPSTART YOUR CREATIVE CAREER
£150 per person

Make 2018 the year you take your creative career to the next level!
On this four-week course run by artist and creative business consultant Julie Galante, you will define goals for your creative business (no matter how large or small) and put together an action plan to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
With Julie's hands-on help and support, you will develop your strategy, branding and marketing (including authentic online marketing). In between the four, weekly sessions at The Arienas Collective you’ll receive ongoing support from Julie via a private Facebook group. The course content will be customised to meet the needs of the participants.
Week 1: Taking Stock
You'll start by taking a look at where you are currently. (What do you make? What are your skills? What are your needs? How do you define success?) Through a series of discussions and exercises, you'll gather a picture of where you’d like to be (don’t worry if you don’t know yet!) and consider priorities, motivation, and limiting beliefs.
Week 2: Taking Steps
Week 2 will build on last week’s discussion and turn those ideas into action steps. What needs to happen to get you from where you are now to where you want to be? We’ll talk strategy and opportunities.
Week 3: Brand You
This week we’ll start to look at branding and marketing. What is the story that you are telling? Who are you telling it to? We’ll talk about ways to make marketing feel authentic and true to yourself, rather than like brazen self-promotion.
Week 4: Making a Plan
On the final week, we will pull everything together into a plan for your creative business, mapping out the concrete steps you can take towards your goals.
