Local artists Cass Barron of Bookbinding with Cass, and Mark Kirkham, known locally as the Edinburgh Sketcher, share some of their favourite bookbinding and sketching techniques in this collaborative full day workshop.
The day will be split between The Arienas Collective workspace for the morning bookbinding session, and local points of interest around Edinburgh's New Town, including the National Portrait Gallery during the afternoon sketching session.
This option is to book the morning only bookbinding session with Cass Barron. Over the course of the morning, Cass will introduce a range of book making techniques, including single sheet Japanese Stab binding, concertina fold books and a more substantial leather bound sketchbook.
Cass will help you throughout the morning, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. With your newfound bookbinding techniques you will be able to make your own sketchbooks forever more! And be set up and ready to join in the afternoon sketching session with the Mark, and make your first marks in your new sketchbooks.
The class size is kept small so that Cass can give you all the help and support you need to get the most from your day with us.
The price includes access to all the equipment you will need, all materials, and refreshments. And of course you will take home the lovely personalised sketchbook you have created.

The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited to allow our artists and designer-makers to offer hands-on help and support.
All equipment is provided and all the materials you will need (unless stated otherwise). Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Refreshment breaks are an important part of The Arienas Collective experiences. They are a time to socialise, make new friends and chat to the artists and designer-makers. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby and are proud to feature locally sourced food and drinks. The price includes all materials unless stated otherwise, refreshments, and of course you take home all the unique products you have created.
All our experiences are also available to book as a private group email us for more information.
