Goodbye single-use plastic bags, hello stylish eco-friendly bespoke string bag!

On this introductory workshop, with the hlep of local artist Lucy Wayman, you will create your very own 'one of a kind' macramé net bag. Whether it's for a handing hanging fruit bowl, getting the local groceries, or carrying your books to the library, you can design yourself the perfect bag.

You will learn the basic principles and techniques of macramé, and use 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines to create a hand-crafted bag. A helpful instruction manual will be provided to guide you through your project. You'll first master the knots on a smaller scale pieces, key rings and bracelets, getting use to the techniques and ironing out any hiccups. Once you've built up an understanding of the knots, you'll move on to designing and making your own bespoke bag. The 5 hour workshop allows for a more complex understanding of the knots and for you to create more ambitious and unique designs. All the knots and techniques learnt in the class will give you the confidence and knowledge to further your own macrame projects.

Whether you're a beginner, or have tried macramé before, this workshop will suit you. And is a must for anyone interested in learning more about the art of macramé. If you have treasured items at home, such as beads, gems, hoops and handles, you are welcome to bring these with you, and Lucy will show you how to incorporate them into your design.

All materials are provided, and a handy guidebook is also included so you can continue creating at home. Refreshments are also included in the price.

Please note: The Arienas Collective workshops are run from the first-floor of a Georgian mews house and unfortunately we do not have lift access.
