Silver clay boxes and beads: 27 October 2020 10:00 - 5:00pm

Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.

On this intermediate level boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:

  • a shadow box pendant;
  • a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and
  • a silver lentil bead

We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.

You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.

The class size is kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.

This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended a beginner’s silver clay taster or Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop, or who has previous experience of working with metal clay.

The introductory price of this workshop includes access to all the equipment you will need, plus all the materials necessary to complete the projects, including 15g of silver clay and a fireable gemstone worth over £30.

You will also be sent full class notes with all the information you need to make pieces at home, including details of where to buy tools and materials.

Note: If you use reading glasses please bring these with you as the class will include some close work.

Please note that The Arienas Collective workshop space is based on the first floor of a Georgian mews house and unfortunately we do not have lift access.

Silver clay boxes and beads: 27 October 2020 10:00 - 5:00pm

  • The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited to allow our artists and designer-makers to offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided and all the materials you will need (unless stated otherwise). Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.

    Refreshment breaks are an important part of The Arienas Collective experiences. They are a time to socialise, make new friends and chat to the artists and designer-makers. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby and are proud to feature locally sourced food and drinks.

    The price includes materials, refreshments and lunch, and of course you get to take home all the unique products you have created.

    All our experiences are also available to book as a private group. Please email us for more information.
