Bookbinder Cass Barron teamed up with artist and writer Julie Galante for this special workshop which brings together the crafts of bookbinding and journalling.
Included in the price is an Art of Journalling materials/tool kit, access to ‘how to’ video tutorials and a live online session to facilitate your journaling journey.
Cass’s video tutorials will take you through all the steps to make an A5 refillable journal with room for 4 booklets – a great addition to your collection that will last you a lifetime and can be refilled again and again. She’ll also cover how to make handy pockets and envelopes to hold your treasures/receipts, and introduce some finishing touches that will ensure your journal is both functional and fabulous. (This builds on the Midori style journal workshops Cass ran in April and is a larger more sturdy version that makes for a great personal organiser/journal.)
The Art of Journalling kit comes with everything you need to make your journal, including the tools you need to make more booklets at home – so you need never buy another notebook again!
Kits are posted out with a special code to access the step-by-step tutorials, which you can watch and work through at any point.
The Art of Journaling live session, hosted by Cass and Julie, will take place on Zoom on Wednesday 20 January 2021, with the option to take part in the morning 10am-12pm, or evening 6-8pm. The session will share:
Guidance on how to get going with your new journal – some writing exercises designed to tap into our creativity and promote wellbeing.
Ideas on how to approach a journalling practice and the benefits that regular writing can bring.
Methods such as free writing, gratitude journaling, mind mapping.
Some creative ideas for how to put your booklets together to assist your journaling.
By the end of the session, you’ll be inspired to get started with your own journalling practice. The live sessions are capped at 10 participants so that we can create an inviting, interactive, and informal group to support your journaling journey. You have the option to make your journal before or after the Zoom workshop – either way will work.
New for November 2020: after running four completely sold-out sessions of this workshop, Cass and Julie decided to add a prerecorded video option for those who want to participate but can’t make the live sessions. Just choose the 'no session' option in the drop-down menu. Kits will be posted out by early January, and will include instructions on how to access the online tutorials.
For those of you who have received one of Cass’s bookbinding kits in the past, you’ll already have some of the basic bookbinding tools (awl, needle, bone folder, etc.) to hand – choose the ‘no tools’ option if you’d rather not receive the tools again.
Kits will be shipped by early January. But if you'd like to buy this as a Christmas present, just let us know and we can send you or the recipient a gift card in the meantime.
