ART + WINE EVENINGS
Join us for a fun, sociable evening of art and wine with Edinburgh artist Suzanne Kemplay.
With hands-on help from Suzanne, you will learn how to create your very own Scottish Colourist or Georgia O'Keeffe themed still life, flower or landscape painting, while enjoying a glass of wine. We think you'll be amazed at what you can achieve!
Suzanne has always loved the Scottish Colourist paintings: "I see them as part of my heritage. They have a freshness and vibrancy that makes me feel the passion they had for painting. I would like to be able to communicate some of that experience to others." The term 'Scottish Colourists' refers to four painters: Peploe; Fergusson; Hunter and Cadell; and has a close connection to Edinburgh with all artists except Hunter having being born into Edinburgh families. Another artist that has inspired Suzanne is American Georgia O'Keeffe, especially the large flower paintings O'Keeffe created in the 1920s and throughout her career.
This relaxed evening workshop is suitable for beginners and no experience is needed. It's also perfect for returners, or those wanting to try working with acrylics for the first time. Suzanne will talk you through the process, and show you how to mix colours and apply paint. Images will already have been drawn out to help you get straight to work and have fun playing with paint.
Refreshment breaks - featuring locally sourced products - are an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.
Our artists will support you throughout the experience offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
The price for the evening includes all materials plus complimentary wine and nibbles, and of course you get to take your finished artwork home to enjoy and inspire you to keep painting!
Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
