SWITCH TO MANUAL
Release your inner creative on our Switch to Manual workshop, run by Edinburgh photographer Richard Dyson, of the Edinburgh Photography Workshop.
Switch to Manual is an introductory course for camera-users who tend to leave their camera set to automatic modes and therefore don’t unleash the full creativity that their DSLR or Bridge camera can deliver.
In four hours you will learn the fundamentals of exposure by exploring the use of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, as well as a number of composition techniques that will take your photography to a new level.
The workshop starts in a relaxed way - you will discover what the thick manual that came with your camera should have told you. You will then head around some of the famous, and not so famous, landmarks of Edinburgh's historic and beautiful New Town, so that you can put theory into practice. The workshop ends back at The Arienas Collective for a review of the images you’ve taken using your new skills, with a complimentary glass of beer or wine.
Our artists will support you throughout the workshop offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
The price for the workshop includes refreshments and complimentary glass of beer or wine. Please bring your own DSLR or Bridge camera with you.
Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
