OUR SPACE + ETHOS

The Arienas Collective creative workshop hub is located in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town.

The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Our name emanates from Loch Arienas: a remote and reflective spot in the Scottish Highlands much loved by founder Lynn Powell.

Discover our space by booking a workshop, or popping along to our Open Day - the only day we open to the public.

Please note: The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and private group experiences are run from the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access.

OUR WORKSHOPS, EXPERIENCES + COURSES

Our workshops offer an expressive way of learning and sharing new skills and talents, and - through engaging in creative activity - to nourish our mental health and wellbeing. If that sounds like an enticing combination, we invite you to go with the flow and explore how we can help you discover, release and grow your inner creative.

Our home-based workshop space is designed to provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment, where the sharing of ideas and experiences is encouraged. Group sizes are kept small so that our artists and makers can give you the hands-on help and support you need to get the most from your time with us.

Those new to creative activity are encouraged to slowly release their inner creative on our beginners’ workshops. Our intermediate and advanced level workshops offer returners the chance to grow their skills and confidence, and opportunities for those who want to challenge and develop their own creative practice. And should you want to take it a step further, our Sell Your Work business courses will help you prepare for life as a creative entrepreneur.

OUR OFFERINGS

Discover, release and grow: creativity is a journey.

Our workshops and experiences guide you through the different stages.

RELEASE

Our taster and introductory workshops are the perfect first step towards releasing your inner creator.

Tasters are usually 2-3 hours long. They are perfectly bite-sized to give you a taste of a new creative activity, while still having the time to finish a small project or two. We hope the tasters tempt you back for more of the same - perhaps to GROW your skills on a longer, introductory workshop or skip straight to intermediate level - or give you the confidence to give something else a go.

On each workshop you will design and create at least one, unique finished piece ready to take home which we hope you will be proud of.

GROW

We are fortunate to welcome back many returners, and as the skills of our creative community have grown, so has our range of workshops.

Under the watchful eye of our team of experienced artists and makers, our intermediary and advanced workshops offer you the opportunity to take your creative skills to the next level. The focus is on reinforcing what you already know, and on introducing you to more advanced technical skills and projects that will help you broaden and progress your creative practice.

From time to time we also offer courses and masterclasses that allow you to immerse yourself more deeply into learning and mastering the skills that go into making creative work.
